The programme normally consists of seven one-day courses that provide the knowledge and skills necessary for formal development in a management role and enable managers to improve their ability and capacity to lead.

Participants in the Managerial Leadership Improvement Programme receive a certificate of attendance as evidence of skills acquisition. Subject to approval, the programme also includes an option for participants to register and be assessed for a nationally recognised award, such as the Introductory Diploma in Management (SVQ Level 5) from the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).
